On a month-over-month basis, the latest reading indicates that the pace of contraction in the Ghanaian economy is easing. While a PMI level below 50% still points to a decline in overall activity, the move from 47.70% to 49.20% highlights a notable month-on-month improvement compared with the previous period’s performance.

The comparison framework used for the indicator assesses each month’s change against the immediately preceding month, with the “previous” figure representing June’s change versus May 2026 and the “actual” figure capturing July’s movement relative to June.
