Ghana’s Whole Economy PMI edged higher in July 2026, suggesting improving business conditions even as overall activity remained slightly below the growth threshold. The index rose to 49.20% in July from 47.70% in June 2026, based on data updated on 5 August 2026.

On a month-over-month basis, the latest reading indicates that the pace of contraction in the Ghanaian economy is easing. While a PMI level below 50% still points to a decline in overall activity, the move from 47.70% to 49.20% highlights a notable month-on-month improvement compared with the previous period’s performance.

The comparison framework used for the indicator assesses each month’s change against the immediately preceding month, with the “previous” figure representing June’s change versus May 2026 and the “actual” figure capturing July’s movement relative to June. This incremental rise places Ghana closer to a return to expansion territory, should the trend continue in the coming months.
