Indonesian shares rose 16 points, or 0.3%, to 6,251 in early Tuesday trading, rebounding from a muted session the previous day as most sectors advanced, led by property, basic materials, and non-cyclical stocks. Sentiment improved on the back of stronger U.S. stock futures after an overnight rally on Wall Street that pushed the Dow Jones to a record high, supported by lower oil prices and sharp gains in major technology names. Domestically, annual inflation in July eased to a three-month low of 2.88% as food supplies improved despite ongoing El Niño risks. At the same time, manufacturing showed tentative signs of recovery, with the July PMI reaching a five-month high. Upside, however, was limited by a second consecutive monthly trade deficit in May, as imports continued to outpace exports. Investor caution also persisted ahead of Q2 GDP data due Wednesday, with markets bracing for slower growth following the previous quarter’s 5.6% surge. Top gainers included Merdeka Copper Gold (up 5.1%), Vale Indonesia (1.9%), Indosat (1.6%), and Bank Negara Indonesia (1.2%).
